This upstream-downstream approach combines: forward planning and style, merchandising and store design.

About

Our Story

The Volcan design and brand consultancy is founded by Martine MARESCAUX with one goal in mind: the fusion of style and design.

Colour consultation and design: Adidas sports/running shoes collections.

Foundation of Tribu, a company specialized in the distribution and promotion of high-end furniture and accessories.
Art direction and partnerships with designers Michele De Lucchi, Enzo Mari, Jean Nouvel, Ettore Sottsass and Martin Szekely.

The firm moves onto the Japanese market – its first clients are Citizen and Mitsubishi.

The company moves from its premises on rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Paris to a new location on rue Saint-Marc in Paris 2nd arrondissement.

Agreement with major hypermarket E. Leclerc to design the Men’s, Women’s and Children’s collections for the Tissaia ready-to-wear range and devise the brand’s visual identity.

Creation of the concept "Les morceaux choisis" for the Comédie-Française theatre and development of the visual identity of the Comédie-Française Boutique brand, as well as product design for the brand (Award of Excellence – Communication Arts Magazine).

Les Marchands consultancy is founded by Christophe Anjolras. Its focus lies in making merchandising an integral part of the art of retail design.

The agency secures its first client in China, Swire Properties.

The two agencies move into the same premises at 4 rue de la Petite Pierre, Paris 11e on the site of an old clothes factory.

The two agencies offer consulting services to numerous brands interested in creating their own distribution network as part of their drive to create a new retail concept: Salomon, Aubade, Caran d’Ache, Canal+ and more.
New partnership with Kingfisher brands (Castorama and B&Q) and Monoprix for home collections.

Design and production of merchandising guidelines for Louis Vuitton.

Over a 10 year period, the two agencies pooled their know-how in order to offer their customers a pioneering approach: The Global Merchandising.

The two agencies merge to become Volcan Design.
Volcan and Les Marchands are combining their specialist skills in the fields of fashion, houseware/home furnishings, beauty, the arts and luxury goods with a view to constructing a radical new approach: INSPIRED RETAIL.

Volcan Design guides the greatest brands and retailers in the definition of their collections strategy and their shops design.
